Payment of Fines

The transactions are carried out through the Single Transaction Payment (electronically or through partner banks), using the unique RF payment code, indicated on the front note of the imposed fine(in red frame).

IMPORTANT NOTE:  The above process is ONLY for persons who have a Greek VAT number and a Taxisnet account.   Persons who don’t have a Greek VAT number should contact the Fines office via the email address [email protected], enclosing the necessary supporting documents for the cancellation of the fine.

 

USEFUL INFORMATION ON SUBMITTING THE APPLICATION

 You have the right to submit a request for cancellation / reduction of an imposed fine within the first sixty (60) calendar days from the day after it was imposed.

  • The request is examined and answered in accordance with the applicable Legislation and the instructions of the Athens Urban Transport Organization (OASA), at the time of the imposition of the fine.
  • To submit your request, it is necessary to attach the corresponding files in pdf or jpg
  • Attach the files related to your request. g. if you forgot your Academic ID you can attach it to the corresponding field (No. 2).
  • The first two files concern the Personalized ATHENA CARD and the Partial Exemption Slip respectively. For the next two files (No. 3 and No. 4) you should provide their description.
  • Make sure that the information in the attached files is clear and legible.
  • Make sure the documents you attach were valid on the date of the infringement e.g. the personalized card must contain a balance of days on the day of the infringement.

You may submit a request for cancellation through the gov.gr online platform. Please upload a photo of your card. If you are entitled to a reduced fare, you must also attach the required supporting documents as well (e.g. a student ID card). You will be notified of the outcome via SMS and email through the gov.gr online platform.
  • Within the first ten (10) calendar days following the date of the violation, you may: 
  1. Issue a personalized ATH.ENA card.
  2. Purchase a fare product valid for at least thirty (30) days. 
  3. Validate the product on your card.

By completing the above steps, you will be entitled to a 50% reduction of the fine.

The amount due will be reduced from 100€ to 50€, or from 50€ to 25€, if you are eligible for a reduced fare.

You may apply for the reduction through gov.gr online platform.      

  • If during the inspection, you failed to present the documents required to prove your eligibility for a reduced fare and were therefore issued a fine at the full rate, you may apply for a reduction through the gov.gr online platform, by submitting the required supporting documents (e.g. student ID. Card).

In both cases, you will be notified of the outcome via SMS and email through the gov.gr online platform.

If the fine remains unpaid, the debt will be certified and forwarded to the Tax Authorities and the original fine amount will be increased fourfold.

Previously approved reductions or discounts do not apply once the debt has been referred to the tax authority.

The surcharge is applicable on the originally imposed amount.

Before submitting a dispute, you may review your travel history and the corresponding charges on the “Customer Transaction Inquiry” page, available at: https://athens-oasa.littlepay.com/athens-oasa If your card appears to have been successfully validated for the journey in question, you may request the cancellation of the fine by submitting a copy of the inspection report through the gov.gr online platform.
